ICC
Interstate Commerce Commission; a U.S. governmental agency which regulates the domestic transportation of certain commodities.

impact test
a test used to determine the impact energy measured in foot pounds, to fracture a material by means of an izod or charpy test.

incinerators
a device for burning incinerable rubbish, trash, and oily stuff. See WiseASH.

inclusions
nonmetallic materials occurring in metals. more specifically in steel; oxides, sulphides, and silicates which are mechanically held during solidification of the ingot.

Indian tribe
as defined in OPA section 1001, means any Indian tribe, band, nation, or other organized group or community, but not including any Alaska Native regional or village corporation, which is recognized as eligible for the special programs and services provided by the United States to Indians because of their status as Indians and has governmental authority over lands belonging to or controlled by the Tribe.

ingot
a steel casting that is cast into a mold which when solidified will be rolled in a blooming mill to plates, slabs for sheets, or blooms and billets into structurals and bars.

inland waters
considered to be the canals, lakes, rivers and their tributaries, and bays and sounds of the land mass of a country.

inland zone
means the environment inland of the coastal zone excluding the Great Lakes, and specified ports and harbors on inland rivers. The term inland zone delineates an area of federal responsibility for response action. Precise boundaries are determined by EPA/USCG agreements and identified in federal regional contingency plans.

integrated tow
a tow of box-ended barges which, as a complete unit, is raked at the bow, boxed at the intermediate connections, and boxed or raked at the stern.

izod test
an impact test similar to the charpy with the difference being in the test specimen. in the izod test the specimen is 2.953" long,.3937" square with a 45" notch located 1.1024" from the impact end. the distance from the bottom of the notch to the opposite side is .315".
