Membrane Filtration
WHY IT WORKS!
Membrane Systems are mechanical pressure driven processes that
separate contaminants in waste streams from water.
At the heart of every system is a
semi-permeable micro-porous membrane acting as a positive physical barrier that performs
the separations.
Membrane pore size can be chosen to separate large molecules such
as oil, colloidal materials and suspended solids from water. The pore size can also be
selected to separate low molecular weight solutes such as dissolved solids and salts from
water.
A specific membrane is selected to
achieve the proper results for each project.

HOW IT WORKS
Waste water feed is introduced into the
membrane module(s) flowing across the surface of the membrane under pressure and high
velocity allowing the water phase to pass through the membrane as (permeate) free of
contaminants.
These contaminants are rejected by
the membrane and are collected as (concentrate).

This cross-flow circulation and high turbulence creates a self cleaning
operation that prevents the build-up of solids and other contaminants at the membrane
filter surface.
Cross-flow membrane filtration will produce
high filtration rates and maintain extended periods of uninterrupted operation.
Membrane technology is ideally suited for variable waste stream
applications.
Since the membrane acts as a physical barrier, the system will
consistently produce high quality effluent even when the feed characteristics change and
the loading of contaminants vary.
MEMBRANE TECHNOLOGY PROVIDES INDUSTRIAL
GRADE WASTEWATER TREATMENT!
MEMBRANE
TYPES
There are four basic groups of membrane filtration technology:

The wastewater type, characteristics, form of contaminants and
treatment goals are the deciding factors that determine which membrane technology is
selected for your application.
ULTRAFILTRATION
(UF) MEMBRANE IS COMMONLY USED FOR MOST INDUSTRIAL
WASTEWATER APPLICATIONS. UF MEMBRANE IS SUPPLIED IN THREE BASIC CONFIGURATIONS, HOLLOW
FIBER, SPIRAL AND WIDE CHANNEL TUBULAR.
Industrial wastewater problems are best solved using a wide channel
configuration.
