OilSmart Water Pump DC Switch Installation

The OilSmart Water Pump Switch is a stand alone unit or can be installed directly to the pump. (Use of strap to mount switch directly to pump is not evaluated by Underwriters Laboratory). It is essential that the lower sensing area of the unit be kept clear of any metallic surface or object.

WIRING
To prevent corroded wire connections, be sure to use adhesive filled heat shrink wire connections to seal all connections.

Locate wire connections above the highest possible water level. Be sure to use the appropriate wire size from battery source recommended by pump manufacturer.

FUSING
Follow the pump manufacturer’s instructions on fusing.

BLACK WIRE - IN
WHITE WIRE + IN
BROWN WIRE + OUT

Fusing

  • Disconnect voltage source.
  • Route and secure all wires as high as possible above the water level.
  • Connect and crimp the switch positive (+) red wire to the positive (+) source.
  • Connect and crimp the switch and pump negative (-) black wire to the negative (-) source.
  • Connect and crimp the positive (+) brown wire from switch to positive (+) wire of pump.
  • Use heat shrink wire connectors included, or wires will corrode and your warranty will be voided.
  • Use heat source to shrink wire connectors until adhesive inside melts and flows out the ends.
  • Re-connect the voltage source, hold your hand or metallic object over the sensor area to test pump operation.
  • Be sure that the bottom of the switch is aligned above the pump impeller for proper turn-on and turn-off operation. If the switch is installed too low the pump will suck air and continue running until the pump fails.
