Well Skimmers for Monitoring Wells
BB-Belt Skimmers are used mostly for metalworking coolants and wastewater applications, however we have developed specialized units for product recovery from 2", 4" and larger wells.
Oil and hydrocarbons are attracted to belts by surface tension, then lifted up and scraped off the belt. The collected oil flows down a chute or trough to the collection device.
The collection rate has to do with the belt width, "reach" - distance from the skimmer to the bottom of the belt and the type of product to be recovered. These well skimmers can reach from 5-100 feet below grade, pick up oil only and bring it to the surface.
Lower Parts Lower tail pulley assemblies for 1" and 2" wide belts are similar and fitted with a weight below the tail pulley. Wider belts use just a tail pulley without the weight. To prevent cogs from meshing in 2" & 4" wells, a polyurethane web is used. This has its own weight and ends just above the tail pulley assembly.

General Description
Drive Motor is a high-quality permanent magnet motor, 10 or 30 rpm 115/1/60 with 6 ft. cordset. It is also available in 220 volts with Euro cordset.
Mounting Bracket and Scraper/Trough assembly is stainless steel. Drive Pulley is glass-reinforced nylon.
Tail Pulleys are 2.5" OD or made of steel or stainless. The "loose" design is equipped with a retainer chain. A "fixed" design utilizes either a flat stabilizer bar or a "rod" type stabilizer kit to hold the tail pulley in place.
Belts: Cogged, steel-reinforced polyurethane belts are available in four standard "reach" lengths of 8", 12", 18" and 24". Flat polyurethane and stainless steel belts are available up to 10 ft. reach.
Oil Collection Rates for 10 rpm units is about 1 quart per hour and the 30 rpm units will lift about 1 gallon per hour. Real rates are dependent on conditions present at the application.
Accessory choices include a plug-in timer for automatic control, a ground fault interrupter for electrical protection, a handle kit for portability, extension hose for the trough and a stainless or PVC motor cover.
