Containment Boom, Pumps and Industrial Hoses
Industrial Oil Skimming and Containment Systems Accessories
SkimOIL's floating containment boom and diversion boom is manufactured from a variety of extremely durable, flexible thermoplastic fabrics. These fabrics are dielectrically sealed (welded) to form enclosures (pockets/sleeves) for flotation logs and for the galvanized chain ballast that also serves as a tension member. A skirt that extends below the surface of the water provides a flexible floating barrier. Often to add strength, a top cable is installed in a top pocket---providing double tension which makes these very strong assemblies. Along with the quick connect hardware-these can easily be towed into position.

The containment booms themselves are often referred to as OPA 90 boom (6” x 12”) and are designed to hold/retain contain floating oils and sometimes debris. Our diversion boom work the same way but with smaller floats and shorter skirts. These are often used for corralling / herding and guiding or funneling floating oil or other surface floaters to get it concentrated where it can be skimmed or otherwise dealt with. Cranberry and duckweed growers use these smaller booms for moving their product around and keeping it contained to a concentrated area
Need something other than standard boom? Customization options include: Flotation diameters, skirt lengths, chain ballast sizes, fabric types, top tension cable sizes and types and end couplers.
Inland and Nearshore Boom cover everything from small bodies of water where no prevailing winds or currents will prevent removal, to large lakes, bays, or harbors,
where winds create significant waves, and where there are currents and tidal flows. Here are the common and standard sizes of our containment and diversion boom.
